Infection Control

You can help reduce the risk of surgical infection by encouraging healing by keeping the wound dressing (bandage) in place for 48 hours after surgery. Follow the advice of the ward team on how to care for the wound. Clean your hands before and after touching the dressing. People must clean their hands before and after they give you care. It is kind to remind people to clean their hands.

NHS Grampian staff follow guidance provided in the National Infection Prevention and Control Manual to provide safe and clean care for patients.
