Neuropsychology

What is Neuropsychology?

Neuropsychology assesses how the brain functions in terms of emotion, memory, reasoning, perception and other cognitive functions.

What does our service offer?

We offer assessments which typically include taking a personal history followed by specialist tests assessing memory and other brain functions. Assessments may take from 1 to 2 hours. A relative or close friend is also usually interviewed in order to provide additional information on symptoms. The results of our assessments are discussed with the neurology team, who consider all the information gathered before making a final diagnosis and treatment plan. In cases where the team have already made a final diagnosis the results will be discussed with the patient, and family if appropriate, and recommendations made. We also offer neuropsychological rehabilitation treatments for several conditions.

We aim to work in partnership with patients and their families, understanding that every person has different needs.
